James “Jim” Allan Tierney 71, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Patterson Healthcare Center.
James was born on April 21, 1944 in Oak Park, Illinois.
James served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army, serving his first tour of duty in Europe during the Vietnam War and his last tour of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. During his early years after the service, he was an avid pilot holding a license for fixed wing aircrafts. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to many places throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico and the United States. James was a collector of many things. He enjoyed spending time fixing and making things for his family and others around him. He was a caring and giving person who will be missed by many.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Mercedes Moore Tierney of Bayou Vista; daughter, Traci Landry and husband Joshua of Bayou Vista; granddaughter, Valentine Landry; two brothers, Jerry Tierney and Jeff Tierney; one step brother, Pete Bratlie; one half sister, Lynne Beiler.
James was preceded in death by his mother Myrna Peters Bratlie and step father Harold Bratlie; grandmother, Florence Peters.
James will be entombed in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
