John Joseph Guarisco Jr, 70, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 in his home.
He was born on September 5, 1945 in Morgan City, the son of John Joseph Guarisco Sr and Jennie Baglio Guarisco.
Johnny was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger life. Once his two sons were of age, he shared these passions with them. At one time, he was active with the M. C. Recreation Department and coached both sons and numerous other boys, during Dixie Youth Baseball and remained involved with the department for some years after. Later in life, his interest turned toward the Civil War and exploring numerous sites he read about in his many history books he acquired over the years. He searched for relics and items from the war with his trusty metal detector throughout Southern Louisiana with friends whom had the same enthusiasm for that tremendous event. Also during that time, Destin became his favorite travel destination with his wife, sons, and grandchildren spending numerous hours on the white sands there. With his passing, his entire family loses one of the greatest men they shared life with, a man who put his family first, and a man whom they could always count on. He will dearly be missed by his family, as well as, countless friends and acquaintances he has made throughout his entire life.
John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two sons, Stephen M. Guarisco and companion Brandy Oncale of Morgan City, Mark J. Guarisco and wife Laura of Daphne, Al; four grandchildren, Kasie L. Guarisco, Sawyer E. Guarisco, Calleigh R. Guarisco, Jasper J. Guarisco; one brother, Leonard J. Guarisco and wife Rose of Morgan City; one sister, Rosetta Guarisco Teague of Bryan, Tx; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Sellers Guarisco; parents, John Joseph Guarisco Sr and Jennie Baglio Guarisco; and brother in law, Carl "Bud" Teague.
