Mary Bergeron Himel

February 9, 1942 — October 25, 2015

Mary Bergeron Himel, 73 a resident of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Mary was born on February 9, 1942 in Morgan City the daughter of Wilbert and Odille Meche Bergeron. Mary enjoyed talking on the phone and would call her daughter every morning at 6am just to wake her up; as well as calling her granddaughters Niki and Ashley to bring her bubble gum. She enjoyed spending time and socializing with her family and friends, but especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. She loved watching Gun Smoke and the Beverly Hillbillies on television and also loved playing bingo. Mary loved coffee and always wanted her brother-in-law Richard to make her some Community Coffee because he could make a good cup of coffee. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Duval and Malcolm X. Bradford of Morgan City; two sons, Christopher Himel of Texas and Craig Duval of Morgan City; god son, Rickey Lightsey; 11 grandchildren, Niki Rebardi, Jeremie Rebardi, April Thompkins, Lawrence Rebardi III, Tonya Carmello, Giang Duval, Christopher Duval, Phi Duval, Jennifer Duval, Ashley Duval Matthew Duval; 18 great grandchildren, Alre Granger, Kamille Thompkins, Avah Bell, Tanyriah Thompkins, Jeremie Rebardi Jr., Jeremiah Rebardi, Emarie Rebardi, Isaiah Rebardi, Gabriel Duval, Christopher Duval Jr., Ky Duval, Amya Gray, Evin Gray, Matthew Jones Jr., Shelton Jones, Ethan Carmello, Quinn Carmello, Conner Carmello; five brothers, Paul Ortis Jr., Calvin Ortis, Shelby Ortis, Andrew Ortis, Carlos Ortis; four sisters, Barbara Morgan, Paulette Lightsey, Pauline Ortis, Lana Benoit. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Odille Meche Bergeron; two daughters, Cheryl Duval and Glenda Duval; one sister, Florence Matheny. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Twin City Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Bunner officiating with a visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the services Mary will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
