Etienne "E.J." Joseph Daigle

Etienne Joseph "E.J." Daigle, 92 a resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at Teche Regional Medical Center. E.J. was born on May 19, 1923 in Four Mile Bayou the son of Albert and Lillian Aucoin Daigle. E.J. proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He spent his life on the water starting his working career as a commercial fisherman and ending his career as a boat captain. He could often times be found outdoors tending to his garden which was one of his hobbies; his other hobby was carpentry work and in 1948 he built his own home. He loved to cook and enjoyed cooking for his family. E.J. enjoyed listening to classic country music, he especially liked Ernest Tubbs and Hank Williams, but he not only loved listening to the music, he enjoyed dancing to it as well. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Marie Louise Daigle of Morgan City; four children, Judy Blanco and husband Barton of Morgan City, Kathleen Earles of Houma, Mert Daigle of Houma and Pamela Fahey of Santa Barbara, California; three step sons, Wayne Crouch, Billy Crouch and Timothy Bryan; six grandchildren, Jerry Rock III, Ysonde Strecker, Kenlyn Terai, Brandon Daigle, Jeffrey J. Terai, Garrett Daigle; nine great grandchildren. E.J. is also survived by five step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Lombas and Wanzie Hebert. E.J. was preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Lillian Aucoin Daigle; wife, Thelma Fryou Daigle; one sister, Louise Rock; two brothers-in-law, Paul Lombas and Welton Hebert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Following Mass E.J. will be entombed in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum with Military Honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may given to the American Heart Association.
