Maxine Norsworthy James, 86, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at her home.
Maxine was born on July 25, 1929 in Oakdale, Louisiana, the daughter of Charles and Louella Burrough Norsworthy.
Maxine could often be found outdoors tending to her garden or doing yard work. She had a love of going to garage sales just to see what treasures she could find. Maxine had such a giving heart as she enjoyed helping other people any way that she could. She had a love for cooking and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, but especially loved cooking for the many children she served as a cook with the St. Mary Parish Schools.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Howard James of Bayou Vista; one sister, Mary Vercher of New Iberia; one brother, James Norsworthy of Baton Rouge. Maxine is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Norsworthy and Louella Burrough Norsworthy; husband, Howell James; one son, Samuel David James; one brother, Leroy Norsworthy; one sister, Martha Smiley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Kelly officiating, with a visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral services Maxine will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
