Josephine Vaccarella Thomas

Josephine A. Thomas, 73, a Morgan City native and resident, died Friday at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. Josephine, better known as “Jo,” was employed in the banking industry for 27 years — most recently at M C Bank — until she became ill. Visitation will be held today, Monday, April 20, 2009, at Twin City Funeral Home at 412 Fourth St. in Morgan City, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, April 21, 2009, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church at 415 Union St. in Morgan City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Josephine will be buried in the Morgan City Cemetery. Josephine is survived by her son, Cabot Preston Thomas of Houston; her daughter, Lisa Thomas Landry and son-in-law, Gregory Allen Landry, of Lafayette; her sisters, Mary-Ann Vaccarella and Carrie J. Bernucho; and her brother, Sam Vaccarella, all of Morgan City. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Preston Thomas; her parents, Joseph and Josephine M. Vaccarella; two sisters, Rosie V. Hepler and Frances V. Michel; and two brothers, Maurice Vaccarella and Carlo J. Vaccarella. Josephine’s family would like to offer “special thanks” to Dr. Elizabeth McLain of Lafayette, Dr. Mary Ellon Allen and the Teche Regional Medical Center staff.
