Elvina Russo

October 25, 1911 — April 22, 2009

Elvina “Sis” Nini Russo, a native and resident of Berwick, passed away at her residence Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Elvina was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters, “Sis” attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. “Sis” was energy galore! She enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, music & dancing, her specialty was cooking. Elvina is survived by one son Louis Anthony Russo, Sr. and his wife Linda of Morgan City, two daughters, Sandra R. Levy of Broussard, Deborah R. Blackeman and her husband John of Austin, TX, one brother Lee Nini and his wife Gloria of Berwick, one son-in-law, Ed Patterson Jr. of Berwick. “Sis” is also survived by ten grandchildren, Kimberly L. Russo, Arthur Levy III, Pamela P. Robicheaux, David Patterson, Michael Patterson, Catherine P. Nini, Louis Russo Jr., Angela R. Harrington, Robert Russo, Paul Russo and 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Elvina was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Russo, one daughter, Juanita R. Patterson, two grandchildren, Benjamin E. Russo and Sean E. Lyerly, one sister, Rita Russo, three brothers, Ivy, Lloyd and Raymond Nini, her parents, Louis and Mary Letke Nini. The visitation will be held Friday, April 24, 2009 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church from 8am until 10am. The Rosary will begin at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10am. Elvina will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. A special thanks to the caregivers, Veronica, Cricket, Shirley, Lisa, Toni, Sheila, Carolyn and all of her sitters.
