Mervel Terry Adams, 81, a native of Deer Island Bayou and a resident of Bayou Vista was called home Friday, March 18, 2016 at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Mervel was a man who could always be found outdoors in the boat fishing. In his later years he always looked forward to his alligator hunting trips. He was known to love to dance and enjoyed dancing every chance he got. He was a diehard New Orleans Saints fan and loved watching his Saints play and he also loved watching his grandchildren play in their sporting events. He loved to spend time with his family that he loved so much. Wherever Mervel would go he never met a stranger as he truly loved everyone.
He is survived by his wife Claudette of Bayou Vista and step-children, Phyllis Paul and husband Ackaloy and Ronnie Lormand and wife Ashley; the mother of his children, Pearl from Centerville and his kids, Mervel Jr., Anthony and wife Teresa, Richard and wife Anita, Michael and wife Shanna, Byron, and daughter Laurie, one sister Dot Champine, one brother Eulice Adams, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Mervel was preceded in death by his parents Clivie and Louise Champagne Adams, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, one daughter Judy Adams, and one great grandchild Jaxon Adams.
A visitation will be held in Mervel's honor on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church in Morgan City from 9:00 a.m. until the services at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the family.
