Ashley Joseph Guidry, 96, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Ashley was born on November 2, 1919 in Houma, the son of Francois Guidry and Alzina Domangue Guidry.
Veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Staff Sergeant during WWII, serving his country for 9 years. During his 9 year tour he received numerous medals and commendations including a silver star and bronze star medal while serving under General Patton. Was a member of the Patterson Church of God of Prophecy where he was a great worker in the church until his health declined. He was also a deacon with the church and was an article writer for the church newspaper, The White Wing Messenger.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Faith Belanger Guidry of Bayou Vista as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ashley was preceded in death by his parents, Francois and Alzina Domagnue Guidry; four brothers, Druby Guidry, R.J. Guidry, Duey Guidry and James Guidry; one sister, Joyce Cunningham.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. John Istre. Following the funeral services Ashley will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
