Jeremy Clay Canty, a native of Morgan City, and a resident of Lafayette, died on May 31, 2009, at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette, La.
Jeremy was a free spirit and loved many things in life. He was a very creative person, especially in drawing, writing poems, and in song writing, which he pursued as a professional singer. He was a vegan by choice, and enjoyed cooking. Jeremy loved to travel, especially to concerts. His kind and loving heart led him to the very charismatic outgoing person that he became. Jeremy was an environmentalist, he was an animal rights activist (A.L.F.), and he belonged to “FOOD NOT BOMBS’, an anarchist group. Of all that he loved in life, his family and friends meant the most to him. Family & friends around the country will miss him.
Jeremy is survived by his father, Clayton S. Canty Jr. and step-mother “Dottie”, of Morgan City, and his mother, Christine Franklin Canty, a sister, Candace Foster, and her husband Erik of Pensacola, Fla., a step sister;, Emilie Sanchez, and her husband, David Jr. of Pierre Part, La. and a step brother, Steven Hebert Jr. and his wife Patricia, of Broussard, La, and his grandfather, Clayton S. Canty Sr. of Morgan City, La. He was a loving uncle to Zyn, Vatia, Loki, Kobe, Chase and Channing. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nellie Coleman and his fraternal grandmother, Betty Smith.
Visitation will be from 6 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday, June 2, and resume on Wednesday June 3, at 9AM until 11AM at which time, the funeral service will begin at Twin City Funeral Home. Jeremy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum
