Johnny Junior Tabor, 79, a resident of Amelia, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Morgan City Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family.
Johnny was born on May 6, 1937 in New Orleans, the son of John J. Tabor and Agnes Clements Tabor.
Johnny had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed time spent fishing and tending to his garden. He also coached youth baseball and also umpired youth and high school baseball and softball games. He was a member of Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a very active member. He was a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. Of all the things that Johnny did in his life, spending time with his family is the one thing he loved the most.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Lucy Ohmer Tabor of Amelia; three children, Keith Tabor of Amelia, Todd Tabor and wife Jill of Bayou Vista, Alison Kay Landry and husband Gene of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Beth Tabor of Thibodaux, Blair Clark and husband Justin of South Dakota, Ashley Tabor of Bayou Vista, John Landry of Baton Rouge, Evan Landry of Baton Rouge; one great grandson, William Clark of South Dakota.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Agnes Clements Tabor; two sisters, Audrey Black and Lois McMannis; five brothers, Allen Tabor, Cleveland Tabor, Sidney Tabor, Lloyd Tabor and Myron Tabor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. John Locascio officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home and the visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at Pharr Chapel Church. Following the services Johnny will be laid to rest in St. Andrew Cemetery in Amelia.
