Captain John Harold Scott Jr., 88, a resident of Morgan City, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Maison Jardin.
He was born on July 10, 1928 in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of John Harold Scott Sr and Evelyn Marie Stone Scott.
John served in the US Navy for 30 years, achieving the rank of Captain. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam

John served in the US Navy for 30 years, achieving the rank of Captain. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, and spent much of his enlistment serving on Destroyers in the Pacific and Indian oceans. Before John joined the Navy, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Medicine from Marietta College in Ohio. He loved to travel the world with his wife, visiting places such as The Great Wall of China, the Coliseum in Rome, and The Great Pyramids in Egypt. John was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend who's memory will be cherished.
He is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Rae G. Scott; daughter, Vicki Paxton and husband David of Roanoke, Va; Tracy Thomas of Sacramento, Ca; son, David Thomas and wife Kim of Gibson; sister, Elaine Panyi and husband Albert of Steubenville, Oh; grandchildren, Corey Paxton and wife Danielle, TraciRae Rowe and husband Matt, Kaylyn Branch, Tara Thomas, Giana Romero and husband Damian, Nunzio Gallo, Mia Gallo; great grandchildren, Hannah, Norah and Shiloah Paxton, Paige Rowe, Daisy Branch, Viviana Gallo, Attlio Romero, Vincenzo Gallo; cousin, Robert Scott and wife Carla and their children; nieces, Roseanna Irwin, Susan Korch; and nephew, Steve Panyi.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Harold Scott Sr. and Evelyn Marie Stone Scott; and sister, Mary Virginia Irwin.
Memorial services will be decided upon at a later date.
