Betty Domingue Ledet, 79, a resident of Bayou L'Ourse, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on June 10, 1937, in Lafayette, the daughter of Phillip Domingue and Hortense Guilliot Domingue.
As a child growing up in the 1940's she and her sisters would pick cotton for their family. Betty was a very crafty person who enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, but Christmas was her favorite holiday to decorate for. She was a very loving person who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was always a loving mother to all those who needed one.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five children, Leah Ledet of Bayou L'Ourse, Challie DeHart and husband Warren of Bayou L'Ourse , Kent Ledet Jr. and wife Debbie R. of Morgan City, Debbie Ledet Lee of Morgan City, Stephen Ledet and wife Karen of Bayou L'Ourse; 13 grandchildren, Tabitha Walker, Crystal Walker, Kristy Walker, Toby DeHart, Sarah Truxillo, Phillip DeHart, Kirsten Green, Charlie Lee Jr., Michael Lee, Kelcey Albo, Megan Picou, Alexis Picou, Zander Ledet; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Javins; brother-in-law, Gene Gaudet; host of loving nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Hortense Guilliot Domingue; husband, Kent Ledet Sr.; three sisters, Mary Jane Domingue, Gracie Ledet, Terry Gaudet; one brother, Harvey Domingue; three brothers-in-law, Sheldon Ledet, Gail Ledet, Dave Javins; one son-in-law, Charlie Lee Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Noas Kerketta officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7:00p.m. The visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. dismissal for Mass. Following Mass Betty will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
