Allen Joseph Mayon Sr., 71, a resident of Amelia, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Allen was born on October 25, 1944 in Morgan City, the son of Adley Mayon and Melvina Billiott Mayon.
Allen loved to be in the outdoors hunting, he especially loved hunting squirrels. His love of the outdoors took him a great career as a commercial fisherman which he did for many years. The thing that Allen loved to do the most was spend time with his family.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Noelie Hebert Mayon of Amelia, four children, Adley Mayon and wife Katina of Gibson, Allen J. Mayon Jr. of Morgan City, Scott Mayon of Amelia, Tina Posey and husband Shaun of Youngsville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Mayon and wife Sheila of Patterson and Ronnie Mayon of Bayou Vista.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents Adley and Melvina Billiott Mayon; one great grandson, Devin Mayon; one great granddaughter, Trinity Edwards; three sisters, Lucy LeBouef, May Jane Scully and Helen Barbier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Joe Chacko officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming from 8:00 a.m. until dismissal time of 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Following Mass Allen will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
