Patricia Hewett Blakeman, a native of London, England, died on Tuesday July 7, 2009, at her residence in Thibodaux , La. “Ma Pat” as she was known by her family and many friends was a war bride who came to the United States on the Queen Mary. There in England, she met and married an American soldier named Gerald Bonner Blakeman. Once WW11 was over, the Blakemans settled in Thibodaux and started their family. Being service oriented, Mr. Blakeman became involved in the 40 & 8, the VFW, and the American Legion of which he became the state commander, and there was Pat right there in the thick of things, which she enjoyed. They also enjoyed music and dance, and became members of the Mardi Gras Krewe of Christopher. She loved to cook for family and friends, especially Bar B Q and Crab Boils. She was an avid reader, especially about the history of England.
Mrs. Blakeman is survived by five sons, Brooks and his wife Sue, Courtney and his wife Frances, Patrick and his wife Terry, Lance, and his wife Tammy, and John, all of Thibodaux, La. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John H.and Mabel Smith Hewett, her husband, Gerald Bonner Blakeman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
Visitation was held on Thursday July 9,2009 from 9AM until 10AM, with burial service beginning at 10 AM, under the direction of Fr. Rob Courtney of Trinity Episcopal Church.
