Eugene Anthony Fields, 87, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Eugene was born on July 23, 1929, in Morgan City, the son of Dennis and Adele Barras Fields.
Eugene had a very strong love for God and chose to serve him daily. He loved his country and was a very proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving for three years. Eugene loved his family more than anything and always cherished the time that got to spend with them, especially the time spent with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Rose Marie Beatty Fields of Morgan City; three children, Kathleen Fields Gaudet and husband Elward of Bayou L'Ourse, Daniel Eugene Fields of Amite, Melanie Fields Askew and husband Perry of Morgan City; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Viccellio and husband Steele, Jessica Makepeace and husband Tyler, Chelsea Mayden and husband Jeff, Elise Gaudet, Adam Fields and wife Erin, Sarah Fields, Tiffany Waguespack and husband Jon, Danielle Grow and husband Scott, Brandt Askew, Justin Askew and wife Megan, Jennifer Fanguy and husband Dusty; 12 great grandchildren, Riley, Spencer, Anthony, Nicholas, Vincent, Zachary, Gabrielle, Zoe, Kylee, Talan, Elizabeth and Jace; three great-great grandchildren, Mason, Zaylie and Arliegh; one brother, Roy Fields and wife Linda of Houston, Texas.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Adele Barras Fields as well as numerous brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Noas Kerketta officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until Mass time on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following Mass Eugene will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with Military Honors being rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans’ Funeral Squad.
