Lucy Ohmer Tabor

December 1, 1941 — November 3, 2016

Lucy Ohmer Tabor, 74, a resident of Amelia, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Terrebonne General Medical Center. Lucy was born on December 1, 1941 in Bayou Chene, the daughter of Philip Ohmer and Helen Verret Ohmer. Lucy was a faithful member of Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church. She was very devoted to her family and always made sure that everyone was taken care of before herself. She enjoyed cooking and pampering her family with her delicious meals. Lucy especially loved spending time with her five grandchildren. She was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley. Her most recent hobby and love was “following” her family and friends on Facebook or being able to communicate with them via text message on her iPhone. Every evening she could be found sitting on her front porch with two of her sisters (Loretta Tabor and Lona Pennison) watching the birds that she fed and reminiscing about life. Due to this every evening ritual, the three sisters are affectionately known as the Golden Sisters. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, Keith Tabor of Amelia, Todd Tabor and wife Jill of Bayou Vista, Alison Landry and husband Gene of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Beth Tabor of Thibodaux, Blair Clark and husband Justin of South Dakota, Ashley Tabor of Bayou Vista, John Landry and Evan Landry both of Baton Rouge; one great grandson, William Clark of South Dakota; four sisters, Lona Pennison and Loretta Tabor of Amelia, Helen Faye Benoit of Bayou L'Ourse, Geneva Ohmer Carnley of Patterson; one brother, Cleveland Ohmer of Amelia; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends; and the many students’ of whom lives she touched during the many years she worked at J.S. Aucoin Elementary School in Amelia. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Helen Verret Ohmer; husband, Johnny Junior Tabor(August 5th, 2016); one sister, Barbara Autin; two brothers, Huey Ohmer and Joseph Solar. Her husband Johnny Tabor patiently awaited to be reunited with his “darling” for three short months. May they live together in love and joy and eternal peace. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. John Locascio officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at Pharr Chapel Church. Following services Lucy will be laid to rest with her husband Johnny in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
