Huey Patrick LaJaunie

Huey Patrick LaJaunie, 80, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was born on February 18, 1936 in Bayou L'Ourse, the son of Henry Jerome LaJaunie and Adele Breaux LaJaunie. Huey was a loving father, grandfather, and friend that will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, and meeting friends for coffee. He also loved his dog and companion, Buddy Boy. He is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his brother, Russell LaJaunie and wife Bobbie of Plano, TX; sisters, Nora Jones and husband Ronald of Maude, TX, Jacqueline Aucoin of Amelia; daughter in law, Judy LeJeune; grandchildren, Steve LaJaunie and wife Paige of Berwick, Cecile Mitchell and fiancé John Gerace of Lafayette, Damara McCorkle and husband Lonnie of Berwick, Allison Mitchell of Baton Rouge, Clarence Mitchell and wife Sedonia of Lafayette; and six great grandchildren. Huey was preceded in death by his father, Henry Jerome LaJaunie; mother, Adele Breaux LaJaunie; step mother, Beulah LaJaunie; sons, Huey Steve LaJaunie, Clarence "Poonie" Mitchell, Henry LaJaunie; daughter, Pamela LaJaunie; brothers, Myrtle LaJaunie, Paul LaJaunie, Easton LaJaunie, Nolan LaJaunie, Patrick LeBlanc, Harold LeBlanc, Lionel LeBlanc; and brother in law, Clarence "Buggy" Aucoin. Huey's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Teche Regional Medical Center in the ICU, ER, and 6th floor, as well as Dr. Eric Melancon and Dr. William Cefalu Jr. for all the loving care he recieved. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia beginning at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. Huey will be laid to rest in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery after services.
