David Lee Gentry, a resident of Berwick and native of Helena, Arkansas passed away on August 28, 2009 at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, Louisiana. David enjoyed his fishing but nothing could ever take the place of being a huge fan of Nascar. David loved wearing his hats and cowboy boots so much that he became a collector of both and you could hardly ever get him out of his jeans. David was the type of person that never met a stranger wherever he went, even if he was out of town at the time, but most of all what his family will remember about him was how supportive and loving of a father and devoted husband he was. David enjoyed and loved his five daughters very much and enjoyed sharing his life with his wife.
David is survived by his wife Annette and his parents Bill Oneal and MaeDell Gentry of Marvell Arkansas, five daughters: Melissa White and her husband Billy of Amelia, La, Pamela Reading and her husband Patrick of Gray, La, Amanda Brewer and her husband James of Patterson, La, April Manuel of Crofton, Maryland and Krystal Lirette and her husband Samuel of Houma, La his brother James Oneal and his wife Rosie of Marvell, Arkansas and three sisters: JoAnn Jarrett and her husband Donnie of Marvell, Arkansas, Dorothy Williams and her husband Michael of West Helena, Arkansas and Anita Simmons and her husband Joe of Horn Lake, Miss. and a host of Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his sister Brenda Oneal, his maternal grandparents George and Pearl Gentry, and his paternal grandparents Tom and Lottie Mae Oneal.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, LA from 9am until 9pm. The visitation will resume Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home starting at 8am to 10am. The service will commence at 10am at the funeral home with Rev. John M. Smilie officiating. David will be laid to rest in Garden of Memories in Gray, LA.
