Willment Ambrose Lapeyrouse, 91, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009 at his home in Morgan City. A long time resident of Morgan City, Willment was best know as “Lap the Barber” by his friends and customers. He practiced his profession from 1936 till the age of 87. Lap enjoyed visiting with his customers and is remembered for his quickness and precision cuts. Flat tops were his specialty. Lap loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed his seaplane and shrimp boats. His family will remember all the seafood and barbecue gatherings. Lap knew how to fix anything and if he didn’t he would continue until he figured it out. He never gave up and never stopped. He often would say, “tomorrow will be an even better day”. Truly it is for him today. For us he will be sadly missed.
Lap was survived by his two daughters; Suzanne Boudreaux of Tennessee. Wilma Gaudet and her husband Danny of Florida, one son, Roy Lapeyrouse and his wife Rita of Denham Springs; four grand children and six great grandchildren; four sisters, Eula Arcemont, Rita Songe, Joyce Pertuit, Dot Mason and one sister-in-law Rita Mae Lapeyrouse, one brother Enest Lapeyrouse.
Lap was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lapeyrouse, and his parents Enest and Alida Lapeyrouse.
