Margaret Alemand Rhodes a lifelong resident of Morgan City went home to be with the Blessed Mother on October 15, 2009 at her residence in Bayou Vista surrounded by her family. Margaret was a faithful Catholic and mother to all who ever knew her, she had overflowing love for all of her grandchildren. Margaret’s life was a life of prayer and adoration to Jesus and His mother. She was an active member of the Ladies Alter Society at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista for many years and attended the Rosary Prayer Group faithfully every Tuesday. Margaret served the priest and bishop’s of the diocese with her cooking and housekeeping at the church where she worked for many years with devotion.
Margaret was the first of nine children and the rock that kept the family together. Margaret did not stop being a rock and mother to her family, she continued with the nature that God gave her and became mother and rock to many others through her life as she served her family and church. She loved to hunt in her youth along with traveling, fishing, camping, cooking and passing a good time with family and friends. Margaret had a green thumb and loved all that she and the good Lord grew. Margaret “A lover of life and people” will be truly missed deeply by all that knew her. She was such an example of a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and most of all a Christian.

Rhodes and his wife Rosemary, of Stephensville, her daughters; Debbie Pennison and her husband Lawrence of Bayou L’ourse, Eula Mae Arceneaux and her husband Roy of Gibson, Bernadette Baily of Houma, her brothers; Allen Alemand and his wife Diane of Stephensville, Roy Alemand and his wife Gaydale of Ville Platte, Calvin Alemand and his wife Lydia of Bayou Vista; her sisters; Hazel Landry and her husband Sidney of Bayou Black, Maudrey Bailey of Neopoleonville, Betty Blanchard and her husband Gilbert of Bayou Vista, Alma Glavin of Morgan City, her sister-in-laws; Sarah Alemand and Deloris Gussman and her husband Milton.
