Guelda “Boots” Thomas, a native of Ardmore, Oklahoma and a resident of Berwick, passed away, Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Teche Regional Medical Center. “Boots” as she was affectionately known lived life to the fullest and loved to make other people happy. Her green thumb kept her happy while growing plants for herself and for others. She was also an excellent cook and baker, all of her family and friends looked forward to her cookies and cakes. Her miniature tea cup collection is second to none and so are her poems that she composed and passed them on to the person about which she wrote. She enjoyed camping and traveling at a younger age and one of her most recent joys was to go shopping and to eat out. She also enjoyed music in the easy listening soft rock style.
“Boots” is survived by her husband, James O. “J. O.” Thomas, four daughters, Tammie Mayon and her husband “Tim”, of Berwick, Janice Fabre and her husband Everett of Bayou Vista, Renee Judice and her husband Ricky of Loreauville, and Nelda Guidry and her husband “Eddie” of Patterson, ten grandchildren, Jonathan Mayon, Jennifer Mayon Hawthorne, Brandon and Garrett Daigle, Jason, Mark, Ryan, and Nathan Judice, Shelly Mayon, and “P. J.” Bailey; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Turman and his wife Faye of Tallequah, Okla.; and one sister, Frankie Benton of Van Alstyne, Texas.
