Lester Simoneaux

Lester Pierre Simoneaux, 86, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Franklin, LA, passed away at his residence with loving family members at his side, Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Before retiring, he was a diesel mechanic and eventual co-owner of Landry & Simoneaux Diesel in Morgan City. He was a jack-of-all trades and did much of the construction of their beautiful home in Morgan City. He and his wife loved dancing, cooking and entertaining in their home and had many memorable parties for neighbors and friends. Lester proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. Lester is survived by his daughters, Connie Simoneaux of Morgan City and Geraldine Barrow of Scott, LA, one son Bill Duet and his wife Joyce of Ozark, MO, three brothers, Pete, Ira and Nolan Simoneaux, three sisters, Lelia, Betty and Eve. Lester is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Terri, Tad, Kim, David, Jared, Michelle and Joshua, 15 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Lester was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60years Belle Simoneaux, parents, Wilfred Sr. and Sedonia Simoneaux, one brother, Wilfred Simoneaux Jr., one sister, Lula Mae Collura, two grandchildren, Dale and Kent Barrow. The visitation will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm, resuming Friday November 6, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home from 8am until 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10am on Friday, November 6, 2009. Lester will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum with Military Honors conducted by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
