Alma "Mattie" Allen

Alma “Mattie” Allen was born September 12, 1925, in Utica, Mississippi. She resided in Morgan City, Louisiana, where she passed away at her residence on November 22, 2009 at the age of 84. She loved her Savior Jesus. She loved each and every one of her children and grandchildren abundantly. Ms. Mattie never met a stranger, she was friendly and loving to anyone that she met. She loved to read her newspaper and anything else that was happening around her. Mattie is survived by seven of her nine children, Bobbie Allen Dupre of Patterson, Gloria Allen of Morgan City, Jimmie Allen and his wife Debbie Allen of Doddridge, AR, Emery Allen of Morgan City, Leah Anslum and her husband Billy Anslum of Morgan City, Rusty Allen and his wife Sherry Allen of Bogue Chitto, Miss., Cecil Allen and his wife Christina Allen of Greensville, Miss., and a lifetime daughter-in-law and friend Becky Allen. Mattie is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband James R. Allen Sr., two daughters, Linda Allen and Darlene Durr, her parents, Frank and Rebecca Marsh, three brothers and two sisters and a son-in-law, Evans J. Dupre Sr. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home from 10am until 9pm. The visitation will resume at Twin City Funeral on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 from 10am until 1pm. The funeral service will commence at 1pm. Mattie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
