Rosalie Marie Gorman September 23, 1914 January 8, 2010 Born in Houma, LA., Rosalie, 95, was a lifelong resident of Morgan City and graduated valedictorian of the MCHS Class of 1931. In 1933 she was honored by being selected Miss Morgan City. She was married to Sherwood in 1936, becoming a devoted wife and loving mother, with the birth of John and Betty. Rosalie loved dancing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidering, and cooking. At age 87 Rosalie moved to the Fort Worth, Texas area, where she led a very active life in a retirement community until her sudden passing. Survivors: Son, John S. Gorman, Jr. of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dan Dial of Keller, TX; grandchildren Daniel F. Dial IV of Frisco, TX; Amy Claire (Dial) Morse and husband, Matt, of Haymarket, VA; John S. Gorman III and wife, Christine; Cyndi (Gorman) Moore and husband, Chris, all of Houston; four great-grandchildren, with another due shortly; niece, Nelwyn Hebert of Berwick; sister-in-law, Margaret Rappmundt of Morgan City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John Sherwood Gorman, Sr.; parents, Nelson and Lorena Price; sister, Lottie Shepherd; brother, Lawrence Price; baby sister, Beulah; and Godchild niece, Shirley Shepherd. A wake will be held at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, Louisiana, on Friday, January 15, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Twin City on Saturday, January 16, at 10:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Rosalie will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
