Ora Mae Bates March 22, 1957 February 5, 2010 Ora Mae “Cookie” Bates a native of Morgan City and a resident of Kaplan passed away at her home on Friday, February 5, 2010. “Cookie” is survived by her husband, Richard Bates of Kaplan, three sons; John Boles of Pierre Part, Charles Boles and his fiancée’, Tamika Bouqere of Kaplan , and Jerry Theriot of St. Martinville, two daughters; Lanita Boles of New Iberia, and Frances Suire and her husband, Christopher of Kaplan, one brother, Raymond Miller Jr. of Morgan City, six sisters; Bernadette Boudreaux and her husband, Merlin of Morgan City, Mary McAdams and her fiancée, Sidney Nelson of Morgan City, Ramona Brizzard and her husband, Spencer of Tomball, Texas, Karen Hamilton and her husband Darren of Minden, LA, Josephine Crabtree of Stephensville, and Doreen Wiggins and her husband Ronnie of Stephensville and her stepmother, Stella Robicheaux of Stephensville. Cookie is also survived by six grandchildren; Jasemine, Keith, Haley, MacKenzie, Meya, and Tracey. “Cookie” was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Bernadette Miller Sr., her sister, Arlene Dehart, and one granddaughter, Serenity Suire. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 11, 2010 starting at 6pm until 9pm at Twin City Funeral Home and resuming at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 9am until 12pm with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 12pm. “Cookie” will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
