Joyce Belanger March 18, 1920 February 10, 2010 Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at an 11 a.m. service at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church in Morgan City for Joyce Belanger who passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2010 at Cornerstone Village. Reverend Lamar Oliver will officiate the funeral services. Soloist will be Mrs. Kathryn Dreher. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at Pharr Chapel Methodist Church. Joyce will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. Joyce was a devoted, loving mother and a talented woman working as a florist for 50 years and as a seamstress creating wonderful costumes for mardi gras royalty. She was an active member in her church community. Since her birthday was March 18, Joyce laughingly said that she just missed being a saint by one day sandwiched between St. Patrick’s and St. Joseph’s day. Now she is one. Those left behind to cherish her memory are one sister, Myrle Williams of Slidell; two daughters, Judith Vining and her husband Connelly of Patterson, and Ellen Grote and her husband Tom of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Valerie Bering and her husband John of Jeanerette, Brian Vining of Patterson, Darren Grote of Toluca Lake, Ca., and Christy Grote Thorla of Prairieville; and one great grand daughter, Camille Thorla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Dean and Inez Shaw; her husband, Iven J. Belanger; and her brother C. Dean Shaw, Jr.
