Mary Catherine Asping Laughlin a native of DeGraff, Minnesota and a longtime resident of Morgan City passed away on Thursday, February, 18, 2010 at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Mary loved her Catholic faith and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and watching her grandchildren’s activities.
Mary is survived by her two sons; Earl Laughlin Jr. and his wife, Susan of Lafayette, and Brian Laughlin and his wife, Nancy of Dallas, Texas, three daughters; Karen Laughlin of Morgan City, Monica Mancuso and her husband, Bart of Morgan City, and Mary Jo Beadle and her husband, Gary of Bayou Vista, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Francis Laughlin Sr., daughter, Helen Anne Laughlin, and grandson, Thomas Beadle. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Herbert G. and Annabelle Byrne Asping, and siblings Margaret, Walter, LuVerne, and Loretta.
The Laughlin family wishes to thank Mary’s caregivers; Elma Pierce, Beth Fryou, and Mary Faulk, her doctors; Robert Gamble, Francis H. Metz III, James Lam, and Stephen Abshire for providing such wonderful and thoughtful care to their mother in her time of need.
The visitation was held today, on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 7:30 A. M. until 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at 10:00 A. M. officiated by Fr. Greg Fratt. Mary will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum following the mass.
