Survived by her children, Hubert Gilchrist and his wife Martha, Herbert Gilchrist and his wife Delores, her daughter Margaret Buck, Caleb “Joe” Gilchrist and his wife Rosa Elliot, her daughter Betty Jane Kelly and her husband Dallas, her grandchildren Rodney Gilchrist and his wife Tonyel, Denisa Alpha, Joseph Gilchrist and his wife Jeanie, Nona Campo and husband Rodney, Mona Gilchrist, Dwayne Kelly and wife Denise, Leasha Walters and husband Roger, Johnnie Troulliet and husband Anthony, James Matthew Kelly, Misty Buck and husband Kevin, Daniel Buck and wife Angel, Crystal Rodrigue and her companion Doug Hoksbergen, John Gilchrist and wife Stephanie, Jolisa Sampey and husband Wade, Tonya Wilbur and husband Jamie, Bradley Kelly, Ciara-Lee Bergeron, great-grandchildren Ali Azadi, Tara Azadi, Renee Gilchrist, Rodney Gilchrist Jr, Daniel Henry Gilchrist, Joseph Gilchrist Jr, Destiny Gilchrist, Whitney Sampey III, Lacie Sampey, Hubert Aucoin, Chantell Aucoin, Kenneth Hebert Jr, Amber Kelly, Ashleigh Kelly and her fiancée William Brymer, Amy Kelly, Bethanie-Lee Walters, Khristinie Campo and husband Shane, Kourtenie Walters, Matthew Kelly, James Noah Kelly, Kaleb Morgan, Jacob-Dade Morgan, Kaitilyn Morgan, Destiny Buck, Daniel Uston Buck, Angelina Buck, Angelique Buck, Nesa Buck, Devin Gamble, Morrigan Sampey, Wade “Deuce” Sampey II and great-great grandchild Chloe Sampey, Kowen May, Mackenzie Aucoin, Abigail Nguyen, Austin Brymer, Justin Campo. She is also survived by son-in-law Hebert Kelly and many nieces and nephews and a huge, loving church family.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husbands Daniel “Tucker” Gilchrist and Robert Richardson, her son, Daniel Haydell “Lap” Gilchrist, her grandsons Hubert Gilchrist Jr, Harold Jacob Buck and Christopher Rodrigue, Korey Bergeron, her great-grandsons Cyril “Cy” Rodrigue, Tony Lee Wilbur, Collin Mitchell Morgan, son in law Uston Daniel Buck and several unborn angels, her father George Washington Ray II, her mother Josephine Otis Ray, her brother Joseph William Ray, her brother George Washington Ray III, her sister Viola Ray, her twin brothers Cloyd “Nappy” Ray and Lloyd Ray, and sister Irene Ray, sister Julia Ray.
In accordance with Aunt Ida’s wishes, the family request friends not wear black as a sign of mourning, but wear red in celebration of her life.
The visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Bayou L’Ourse Baptist Church from 6pm until 9pm. The visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from 8:30am until 10am. The Celebration of Aunt Ida’s Life will begin at 10am. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
