Ignace “Capt. Enis” J. Ribardi a lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. He spent much of his life on the waters of Louisiana commercial fishing along with being a boat captain for 42 years before his retirement with Tidewater. Capt. Enis spent some of his life serving his country in WWII. He will be remembered greatly for being “a man of his word” along with just being a really great papa. Papa, you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.
Capt. Enis is survived by his wife, Alice Ratcliff Ribardi of Morgan City; his two daughters: Barbara Evans of Gibson, and Faye Harris and her husband, C.W. of Gretna; three sons: Harris Ribardi and his wife, Lorraine of Thibodaux, Enis Ribardi and his wife, Dana of Bayou Vista, and Jared Ribardi and his wife, Jennifer of Mass.; one brother, George Ribardi Jr. of Berwick, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and one great, great, great-grandchild.
Capt. Enis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and May Toups Ribardi, eight brothers and sisters, fourteen brother and sister-in-laws, one granddaughter and one son-in-law.
The visitation was held on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm and resumed today at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9am until 11am with a Mass of Christian burial conducted at 11am. Capt. Enis was laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
