Della Anne Lancon Gray passed away quietly at her home in Morgan City on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the age of 100. Born in Abbeville, Louisiana on March 17, 1910 to Edward and Marie Louise Lancon, she was a beautiful woman with striking blue eyes and jet black hair. She sat at the yellow front desk greeting customers, and everyone knew the confident, demanding woman with the big smile who was the face of L&H. Della walked to and from the business every day until she was well into her eighties. She also loved to work in her yard and was known for many years for her beautiful flowers, especially her daisies. She celebrated her 100th birthday this past March surrounded by family and friends and was recognized by the City of Morgan City and the Catholic Daughters of America on that occasion. She was also honored on the 75th anniversary of the local chapter of the Catholic Daughters as the only surviving charter member. Della was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son-in-law Lige Robison and is survived by her children, daughter Nelwyn Gray Robison and son C. LeRoy Gray and his wife Mary Catherine. She is also survived by her sixteen grandchildren: Greig Chauvin and husband Andre, Michael Gray and wife Becky, Stan Robison and wife Betty, Leonard Gray and wife Marsha, Patrick Gray and wife Julie, Damon Robison and wife Phyllis, Lee Gray, Scott Robison, Daniel Gray and wife Karen, David Gray, Rani Braus and husband Todd, Wren Hartley and husband Joe, Tim Gray and wife Mary Grace, Gabrielle Townsend and husband Lecil, Mary Louise Mayon and husband Shane, and Mary Catherine Thomas and husband Lyle. She is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren, her close friend Wade Scully, and by her loving, long-time caretakers Lisa Daigle, Wanda Crappell, and Jackie Aucoin. Services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2010, from 9:00 am until 11:00 Am in sacred heart church with a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM.
