September 7, 2010
Born in the town of Berwick on August 12, 1931 to Joseph and Bessie Angeron, Ivy was a devoted son to his parents and brother to his seven siblings; Martha, Gladys, Gaydelle, Maxium, Herschell, David and Polly.
A Korean War Veteran, Mr. Angeron stood in service to his country in both the Air Force and Navy Branch of the United States Armed Forces.
In 1952, while stationed at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, Ivy met and married Marguerite Rozier. Together they raised their four children.
He spent most of his life here in the Fri-City area working as a Supply boat Captain in the Gulf of Mexico and abroad. Captain Ivy later came out of retirement when offered the opportunity to Captain a ship in the Bahamas.
Though salt water coursed through his veins, “Daddy A”, as he was lovingly called by his family, was the happiest while working on one of his many projects. Known to many as a master craftsman, his talent and pride clearly showed in the work he did with his hands. Whether it be a house, boat or even a playhouse built for one of his grandchildren, you were sure to be impressed with his skill.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years, Margie Angeron, his only daughter Ava and her husband, Dean Angeron of Hollister, MO, and his three sons and their wives, Artie and Diane Agneron of Houma; Adrian Angeron of Morgan City and Alan and Millie Angeron of Destin, Florida.
Included in his legacy are his grandchildren: David Lee Angeron, Angela and Jason Houston, Noah and Jenny Angeron, April Bourg, Calen Angeron, Kayla and Christoper Rebardi, Lacey, Alan Jr., Joshua, Sarah and Logan Angeron and seven great grandchildren: Drake, Drew, Reese, Olivia, Tyler, Aylyanna and Alaina Claire.
His brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews are also left to cherish the memory of “Doy”.
Ivy was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Avery Angeron; his mother, Bessie Delaune Angeron, and his sister Martha Angeron Soujon.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 10, 2010 starting at 12:00pm until 1:30pm with a service beginning at 1:30pm at Twin City Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery and he will be buried with full military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
