Bessie “Pip-Pip” Fortunè LeBlanc Smith, 95, resident of De Queen, AR passed away May 6, 2024.
Bessie was born January 17,1929 to Edwin LeBlanc and Jeanne Boudreaux LeBlanc in Avoca, LA. She was united in holy matrimony to James Albert Smith, they made their home at 520 Hilda St in Morgan City, LA where she lived for over72 years. Together they had 3 children, Lynn Carol Smith, Derry James Smith and Jill Allison Smith. She was a devote Catholic and attend Holy Cross Church. She enjoyed playing Solitaire, weekly Pokeno and Canasta with several dear friends. She liked making her rounds with the neighbors for coffee and a cigarette. Her favorite past time was the Casino.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill Smith Hanks and Husband Doc of De Queen, AR. Her grandchildren Stacey Wielhouwer and Thomas of Lockesburg, AR. Scott Rosson of Houma, LA. Brandy Hanks Hodges and husband Bryan of De Queen, AR. Meredith Rosson Landry and Husband Derrick of Pierre Part, LA. Greatgrandchildren Tyler, Taylor and Matt Noskey, Jace Hanks, Sydney and Claire Landry, and Gage and Briar Hodges. God daughter Faye LeBlanc Blanchard. Numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband James “Snooks” Smith. Her children Lynn Smith Rosson and Derry James Smith. Her parents Edwin and Jeanne LeBlanc. Her sisters Jeanne LeCompte, Lorine Alford, Evelyn Sparks, Alice Darden, Mary Ann Cookmeyer and Miriel Callaghan. Her brothers Vernon LeBlanc, Raymond LeBlanc, Phillip LeBlanc, Alton Leblanc, William LeBlanc, and Eggert LeBlanc.
Services will be held at Twin City Funeral Home on Friday May 10 from 8:00-9:00 am for family 9:00- 11:00 am for friends. Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church burial will follow at Morgan City Cemetery.
