Bessie Gath Written

Bessie Gath Written, 92, a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at her home.

Bessie was born November 17, 1929, the daughter of Felis Gath and Mary Effie Horton Gath.

Bessie loved her grandchildren more than anything and she enjoyed baking drop biscuits for them. She loved seafood and could pick a crab faster than anyone around. Bessie also enjoyed crocheting, jitterbugging, and swimming.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children, Clement Vining Jr. and wife Linda, Glenn Vining Sr. and wife Mellisa, Chrisanna Angelle, Chrstia Vining Colegrove, and Georgeanna Sweetser, all of Bayou L’Ourse; 14 grandchildren, Heather Vining, Glen Vining Jr., Brandon Vining, Ricky Foret, Sherry Ordoyne, Gary Elliot Jr., Tristan Snider, Christian Snider, Jasmine Colegrove, Roseanna Daleiden, Jericha Sweetser, Anastasia Snider, Patricia Rodriguez, and Amanda Vining; numerous great-grandchildren.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, Felis and Effie Gath; her husband, Floyd Written, three grandchildren, Christopher Rodrigue, Antoine Rodrigue, and Tasha Massoletti; one great-grandchild, Sy Vining.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Bessie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
