Dolores "Dee" Cecelia Verret Lajaunie

November 22, 1931 — March 27, 2022

Dolores V. Lajaunie earned her wings and entered eternity surrounded by her family Sunday Evening, March 27, 2022.

Dee was born the third of six children to William and Velma P Verret in Bayou L’ourse, Louisiana. She married the love of her life, Norris Lajaunie on August 15, 1948 at St. Andrew Church in Amelia. They were blessed with six children, 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she adored and loved dearly.

Dee loved dancing in her earlier years, but bowling was her passion and she continued bowling until January of 2022. Baseball, football, and Wheel of Fortune were also her favorites. Trips to the casino, traveling to bowling tournaments, and visiting her daughters out of state were things she loved. Dee retired from the Amelia post office in 1992 after serving the community for 25 years. She was truly blessed to live life to the fullest for nearly 30 years afterwards.

She loved unconditionally and gave selflessly of whatever others needed. She will be missed tremendously by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Rick Lajaunie and wife Carol, Julie L. McDonald and husband Mike, Barbara L. Zemo and husband Tony, Donald “Duck” Lajaunie, Janelle L. Vance and husband Gerald, Angela “Annie” Lajaunie and wife Vicky; sisters, Yvonne V. Norris, Patricia Coffman, and Jennie Mire.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson, daughters-in-law, sisters, Edna V. Babineaux and Elise V. Vaughn.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia. Visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. After Mass, Dee will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
