Donald Joseph Benoit

Donald Joseph Benoit, a lifelong native of Bayou L’Ourse and a resident of Duson, LA, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at home.

Donald was born March 11, 1962, in Morgan City, the son of Dalton Benoit and Delta Angeron Benoit.

Donald spent over 20 years of his life in Bayou L’Ourse with his wife Paula, after her passing, he moved to Duson with his godchild Chastity; Donald spent the last four years of his life with Chastity and her family. Donald was a man of God, he had a very strong faith and made sure people knew that. He was also a member of the Knight’s of Columbus. Donald was an avid football fan, especially the Saints.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three sisters, Jane Veazey, Pamela LeBlanc, Paulette Hoffpauir; one brother, Jimmy Veazey and wife Donna; nieces and nephews, Chris LeBlanc, Kellie LeBlanc, Dustin LeBlanc, Scott LeBlanc, Casey Hoffpauir, Christy Hoffpauir, Corey Hoffpauir, Cammy Dupre, Caley Conklin, James Veazey, Jennifer Lasseigne, Brandy Black, Troilyn Cawyer, Chastity Schexnayder, Chad Doucet; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by wife, Paula Kidder Benoit; his parents, Dalton and Delta Benoit; sister, Linda Guillory; great-niece, Zoie Schexnayder.

Pallbearers will be Travis Schexnayder, Mason Schexnayder, Chad Doucet, Curt Dupre, Troy Benoit, and Kerry Chenier and honorary pallbearers, Joe Benoit and Memphis Schexnayder.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2024, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia with Father Francis Kayaye officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024, at St. Andrew Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m., until the time of Mass. After Mass, Donald will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery with his wife, Paula.
