Donald “Duck” Lajaunie, 68, a resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully, April 8, 2024, at Thibodeaux Regional Medical Center.
Duck was born November 2, 1955, in Morgan City, the son of Norris Lajaunie and Dolores “Dee” Verret Lajaunie.
Throughout his life, Duck found joy in simple pleasures - whether it was spending time fishing, sports, watching old movies, or enjoying the great outdoors. As a dedicated self-employed lawn cutter, Donald built strong relationships within the community, forming lasting friendships along the way.
Despite battling illness for the past two years, Duck remained optimistic and hopeful for the future. His positive outlook and resilience inspired those around him, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three sons, Jacob Lajaunie and wife Brittany of Berwick, Chace Lajaunie of Bossier City, and Drake Lajaunie of Morgan City; grandchildren, Collin Duval, Adelyn Aucoin, and Jackson Lajaunie; siblings, Rick Lajaunie and wife Carol, Julie L. McDonald and husband Mike, Barbara L. Zemo and husband Tony, Janelle L. Vance and husband Gerald, Angela “Annie” Lajaunie and wife Vicky; numerous nieces and nephews.
Duck Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Tracy Ashley Lajaunie; parents, Norris and Dolores Lajaunie.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Father Francis Kayaye officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. After Mass, Duck will be laid to rest with his wife Tracy, in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
