Donald “Don” Anthony Patureau, 84, long-time resident of Amelia, Louisiana, passed away Friday, November 25, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Don was born on April 4, 1938, in Bayou L’Ourse, the son of Charles Allen Patureau, Sr. and Annette Landry Patureau.
Don was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time in his shop. Don retired from J. Ray McDermott Co. as the superintendent of the fabrication yard. He also served as a board member of the St. Mary Parish Water and Sewer Commission. Don was known as a leader and mentor to his children, grandchildren, and co-workers. He loved spending time with his family and developed close bonds with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don will be missed deeply by his loving wife of 65 years, Laura Lee Aucoin Patureau of Amelia. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Jeff Patureau (Charlene) of Amelia, Donna Richard (Doyle) of Bayou Vista, Steve Patureau of Amelia, Keith Patureau (Bonnie) of Destrehan. Don leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren, Lisa Patureau, Eric Patureau (Catherine), Matthew Patureau, Emily Richard Alpha (Anthony), Garrett Patureau, Claire Richard Reiners (Alex), Savanna Patureau, Rebecca Richard Ryker (Max) and Miles Patureau; and seven great-grandchildren
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Allen Patureau, Sr. and Annette Landry Patureau and his nine siblings: Charles Allen Patureau, Jr., Elmo Patureau, Lenora Patureau Erwin, Joseph Patureau, Sadie Patureau Cansler, Nettie Patureau Peterson, Edward “Ned” Patureau, and Delores "Anne" Patureau Fontenot.
Serving as pallbearers are Eric Patureau, Matthew Patureau, Garrett Patureau, Miles Patureau, Zane Griffin, and Michael Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to a charity of your choice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on November 29, 2022, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Joe Chacko officiating. Visitation will be held form 8:00am until time of services. Following Mass, Don will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery.
