Edward Joseph Giroir, 75, a resident of Stephensville, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017. Edward was born November 11, 1941 in Morgan City, the son of Adolphe Adam Giroir and Josephine Plaisiance. Edward was a family man; he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a true "people-person" who never met a stranger; he enjoyed making everyone laugh and flirting with all the ladies (with his wife's permission of course.) He was a great neighbor and he made friendships with his neighbors that lasted a lifetime. Edward was a commercial fisherman all his life and it was one of his favorite things to do. Edward will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years Gayle Legnon Giroir; one son, Matthew Giroir and significant other Shanda Kochur of West Virginia; five daughters, Josephine Giroir Aucoin and husband Darrel of Pierre Part, Susan Giroir Kidder of Morgan City, Shirley Jones of Stephensville, Jenny Giroir of Stephensville, Amy Giroir Floyd and husband Cody of Bayou Vista; two sisters, Cecilia Larkin of Morgan City, Betty Meadows of Breaux Bridge; 13 grandchildren, Halie Buford, Ashley Wegrzyn and husband Oliver, Joshua Polkey, Zachary Cox and fiance Emily Guerin, Austin Cox, Tristen LaCoste, Trey LaCoste, Adam Giroir, Alaina Giroir, Tyler Giroir, Emma Floyd, Harvey III, Eva Floyd; six great-grandchildren, Noah Buford, Aidyn Hyde, Ellie Polkey, Raelynn Ferguson, Parker Ferguson, Maverick Guerin; one step great-grandchild, Carolann Guerin. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Adolphe and Adam Giroir; two brothers, Ernest Philip Giroir, Michael David Giroir; two sisters, Margaret C. Herford, Lillian Theresa Richard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
