Ernest “Ernie” Lee Walton, 67, a resident of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ernest was born May 16, 1957, in Memphis Tennessee, the son of Nellie Wright Nichols and Byron Walton Sr.
Throughout his years, he found passion in music, singing, playing the drums and guitar, and composing his own melodies. A dedicated truck driver, Ernie embodied the freedom of the open road, often embarking on adventures on his motorcycle. Ernie found immense joy in his grandchildren, and his face would light up at the sound of their laughter. Ernie loved his wife’s homecooked meals and enjoyed watching westerns while sharing a meal with her. Ernie loved spending time with his brother, Louis, the two of them were inseparable.
He will be sadly missed an lovingly remembered by his Wife, Robbie Walton, 33 years married, son, Shane Chaisson and wife Charolotte, two daughters, Julia Hadley, and Trina Derouen; grandchildren, Sage Breaux and wife Miki, Tray Breaux and wife Alexis, and Joni Chaisson, Alora Breaux, Anna Marie Chaisson, Dezmin James-Heath Hadley, De’zya Ann-Denise Hadley, Johnelle Lee Cooper, Johnathan Patrick Hadley; great-grandchildren, Adalynn Breaux, Conner Breaux, Oliver Breaux, Declan Breaux, Dreyson Angel Hadley; brother, Louis Edward Walton and wife Lana; nieces and nephews, Sean Walton and Amiee Walton.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Byron Walton Sr. and Nellie Nichols; stepbrother, Byran Walton Jr., nephews, Troy Walton and Van Walton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
