It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evert Anthony Hebert, age 91, native and resident of Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on August 29, 2024.
Evert was born on December 20, 1932, in Bayou L’Ourse, LA. He was the third of six children born to the late Willis and Lelia Lee Hebert.
Evert proudly served our country in the United States Navy onboard USS Leyte Aircraft Carrier. Upon his return from serving his country, he began a career in the oilfield industry. Most of his life was spent operating cranes and running crews in the fabrication yards. After marrying his wife, they built a home in Bayou L’Ourse, LA, and raised a family. He was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Evert was known for his love of family, hunting, sharing a beer and laughter with friends, and could always be found working on his tractor to improve his levee. In his most recent years, you could find Evert playing his accordion for family, friends, and grandchildren. He absolutely loved cajun music.
Evert will be fondly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Genevieve (Guillory) Hebert. Together they raised a family of four daughters: Kathy Jones (Larry), Susan Clements (David), Sharon Hebert, and Alison Olwell (Ebb). Grandchildren include (listed with spouse in parenthesis and great-grandchildren in brackets): Nicholas Maxwell (Jess) {Kadyn, Gracelyn}, Matthew Maxwell {Sophie}, Ryan Salzarulo (Shawn) {Kirsten, Jalin, Anthony}, Jessica Folse (Stephen) {Karson, Kole, Kohen}, David (D.J.) Clements, Jr. (Lacie) {Adaline, Caroline}, Jacob Olwell, Nathan Olwell, and Colby Hebert {Kaisen}. He also had two great-great children {Tyler Mae, Drue}. Sisters include Jeanette Etheredge, Rose Lee Hall, and brother Francis Lee Hebert. Evert will also be remembered by an abundance of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Willis James Hebert, sister, Mary Lee Hebert, and grandson Tyler Jones.
Evert’s legacy of his love for family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Evert now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family would like to deeply thank Hope Healthcare and Hospice (specific acknowledgement to nurse, Jodie and aid Terecita). In addition, special thanks to Myrna Perez with Home Instead who was such a wonderful caregiver.
