Huey Peter Landry, 81, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at Teche Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Huey was born February 16, 1936 in Morgan City, the son of Peter Mary Landry and Estelle "Stella" Vicknair Landry. Huey served in the National Guard from 1954-1957. He worked for the City of Morgan City as a meter reader, where he worked his way up to the Director of Utilities. Huey also retired as the National Weather Service Local Observer, where he gave the daily weather. Huey was a family man; he was a great father to his four children and an amazing supporter to his wife. He enjoyed football day cookouts with his family; all the kids would come together, barbeque, boil crawfish, and watch the LSU game. Huey also enjoyed going to the casino as well as traveling, and everyone knew 3:00 p.m. was his “daily afternoon McDonald’s meetings.” Huey will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 61 years, Mae Lynn Landry; two sons; Heath Landry and significant other Martha Bourgeois of Morgan City, Bret Landry of Morgan City; two daughters, Robbie Landry and life partner Linda LeBlanc of Morgan City and Lindy Landry Crisp of Morgan City; two brothers, Lonnie Landry and wife Sheryl of Morgan City, Aubin Landry of Morgan City; six grandchildren, Chad Landry, Brandon Landry and wife Kimberly, Beau Landry and wife Jenny, Forrest Landry and fiance Maegan, Hallie Wright and husband Brandon, Brooke Nagy and husband Jim; seven great-grandchildren, Mackenley Landry, Larson Landry, Hayden Landry, Bailey Landry, Macee Wright, Reid Wright, Elizabeth Landry; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved cat, Chunky. Huey was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Estelle Landry; two sisters, Elizabeth Morell, Lenah Ann Vidos; one brother, Dale Landry; two nephews, Kevin Vidos, Joshua Ackman. Visitation will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church with Father Clyde officiating. After mass Huey will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
