Jerry Joseph Cavalier

Jerry Joseph Cavalier, 77 a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, passed away peacefully at his home, Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. 

Jerry was born March 21, 1947, the son of Herbert Cavalier Sr. and Olivia Morris Cavalier. 

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Joyce Hidalgo Cavalier of Bayou L’Ourse; two children, Jennifer Fryou and husband Roy of Berwick, Joshua R. Cavalier and wife Michelle of Patterson; four grandchildren, Rylee Fryou, Noah Fryou, Jien Kidder, and Remi Thibodeaux; siblings, Aurelia Landry, Edward Cavalier and wife Julie, Robert Cavalier and wife Barbara, Herbert Cavalier Jr. and wife Jana; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sr. and Olivia Cavalier, sister. Odelia Pennison; brothers, Frank, Kelvin, and Earl Cavalier; two brothers-in-law, Dewey Pennison and Joseph Landry; two nephews and one niece. 

The family would like to thank the entire Heart of Hospice staff. And a special thank you to his nurses, Quandie and Abby, as well as the hospice volunteer Debra.

The family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to Chaplain Ronald McCoy for his help, prayers, and kindness. Also, to Karen, just for listening; for all the help she provided over the past months, thank you so much. 

The family would also like to give a special heartfelt thank you to nurse Stephanie Lyons and Yolanda Washington, who never hesitated to step in and help any way they could. And a special heartfelt thank you to Sterling and Connie Fryou, both of whom were there for Jerry and Joyce through it all. God Bless you all! 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Jerry’s name to the DAV and the Wounded Warrior Project. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Twin City Funeral Home with Father Joe officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Twin City Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Jerry will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery, with military honors being rendered by the Army and the St. Mary Parish Funeral Squad.
