John Douglas “Doug” Spangler, 63, a resident of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at his home.
Doug was born on June 27, 1958 in Alexandria, the son of James Thomas Spangler and Irma Maye Cotton Spangler.
Doug was a truck driver and he thoroughly loved being out on the open road. When he wasn’t working, he loved to go fishing and then loved to share his catch with his family, at family fish frys. Doug was the type of person who loved playfully picking on people, just to get a reaction out of them, he always loved the reaction he got from kids. His boxers, Buster and Bootsy were his eyes and he would do anything for his dogs.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his companion of 23 years, Lori Freeman Rink of Franklin; two sons, Jonathan Spangler and wife Shannon of San Diego, California and Jesse Spangler and wife Cortney of Cabot, Arkansas; two step children, Stephen Rink Jr. of Grand Junction, Colorado and Chady Bagley and husband Justin of Fulshear, Texas; two grandchildren, Jayce Spangler and Jhawk Spangler; three step grandchildren, Rylee rink, Aiden Bagley and Lola Bagley; one brother, Gary Spangler and wife Darlene of Dry Prong, Louisiana; step father, Alvie “Colonel” Foster of Ball, Louisiana.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mike Spangler; one sister, Debbie Womack.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home with a visitation being held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the services, Doug will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
