John Henry Stanley

John Stanley, 70, a native and resident of Berwick, La. passed away on January 12, 2024 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his daughter, Jenae Stanley; his son, Daniel Stanley (Amanda); his step-sons, Larry Fernandez (Sara) and Jacob Fernandez; his daughter-in-law, Ashley “Marleen” Soto; his grandchildren, Colby, Brayden, Aubrey “Tootsie Roll”, Isabel, Larry Jr., Jacob Jr. “Paco”, Paris, Enjolie, and Iliana; his brothers, James Stanley and Ted Stanley (Johanne); his ex-wife, of 28 years, Cindy Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Margie Mae Rivere Overton and Marvin Overton; his sister, Sharon “Pixie” Ruiz; his brother, Donnie Corbin; his nephews, Billy Ruiz and Marvin Ruiz; his brother-in-law, Bryan Fontenot.

John was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a crane operator and worked overseas with New Offshore for the majority of his life. John loved to sit outside and enjoy his music with his beer and cigars. His typical weekend was spent piddling in his garage with his grandson Jacob, “Paco.” John loved to read. He always said knowledge was in the books. He loved Jeopardy and would challenge anyone that could keep up with him. He lived for his family, and will be forever missed and loved by every person whose life he had touched.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Twin City Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
