Joyce Skinner Orlando, 94, a native of St. Augustine, Florida and a resident of Morgan City passed away at her home on July 5, 2024 surrounded by family and caretakers.

Joyce was a homemaker and business owner. She was a member of ABWA, AARP and a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church. For many years, Joyce volunteered her time to the church as a money counter and working many hours at the church’s Thrift Store.

She is survived by her 6 children: Beatrice Orlando of Lafayette, Susan Orlando Coneybear (Bill) of Roswell, Georgia, Warren Stephen Orlando, Jr.(Lisa) of Lafayette, Jan Matte (Brad) of Morgan City; Mary Loupe (Mike) of Morgan City and Gregory Orlando (Jeff Smith) of Durham, North Carolina. Joyce was affectionately known as Meme to her 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Warren “Pee Wee” Stephen Orlando, Sr, two brothers Virgil and Gerald Skinner, and her parents Theresa and Barney F. Skinner.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10th at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 10AM to 12 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 12 noon. Joyce will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who provided loving care and assistance to Meme the past several years. Many thanks to her sitters, Ginger, Evelyn, Brandy, Bernadette, Kearsten, the entire team from Hope Hospice and her compassionate longtime friend and housekeeper, Julia.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Holy Cross Catholic Church, Central Catholic Elementary and High School or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
