Julia Ratcliff Ditch, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, in League City, Texas, at the age of 102. Born at home on August 31, 1922, in Berwick, Louisiana, Julia lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community. Julia married Warren J. Ditch on October 1, 1940, in Morgan City, Louisiana, at the age of 22. Together, they built a loving family of eight children. After Warren’s passing, Julia showed incredible strength and dedication, supporting her family through her work in sales while continuing to care for her children and grandchildren. As one of 16 siblings, Julia was also the cherished matriarch of a large extended family. Her deep faith guided her life and inspired those around her. Julia was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters for over 75 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 50 years. Her devotion to the Church and to helping others exemplified her kind and generous spirit. Julia had a passion for gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and teaching others to cook. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the delicious scents of her kitchen. She leaves behind countless cherished memories and traditions that her family will carry forward. She is survived by her children, Mike Ditch, Aggie Gibson, and Julia Ann Falgout; her siblings, Cyrus Ratcliff, Bessie Richardson, and Catherine Moreno; 16 grandchildren; and more than 30 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Warren J. Ditch; her parents, Agnes Lelia Dantin and George Allen Ratcliff; her children Scarlet Gage, Warren Lee Ditch, Earl Larry Ditch, William David Ditch, and Alice Rita Ditch; and 13 of her siblings.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 10:00 p.m., at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, Louisiana. Visitation will resume, Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a..m at Twin City Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Holy Cross Church. Julia’s favorite prayers, including the Serenity Prayer, Psalm 23 and the Lord’s Prayer, reflect her steadfast faith and unshakeable trust in God’s grace. Her family finds comfort in these words, knowing she has entered eternal rest with her Lord. Julia's legacy of love, faith, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
