Lawrence "Larry" Anthony Giroir

Lawrence Anthony (Larry) Giroir, Jr. Lawrence Anthony (Larry) Giroir, Jr. died peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family and friends, on January 24, 2023, at age 85. He was born February 28, 1937, to Lawrence A. Giroir, Sr., and Dorothy Chaisson Giroir. Larry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. He was active in church ministries as head usher for the 4:30 Mass and assisted with the St. Mary Healthcare Center Mass and the monthly masses at Maison Jardin. As a part of the AARP, he was a long-time member of the Mardi Gras and election committees. He was a member of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Confraternity and a former member of the Morgan City Jaycees. As co-chairman, he worked on “Christmas by Candlelight” staging on Bernice Street for over 20 years. His former employers include National Food Store, Cy’s MC Appliance, Seahorse, Inc., Point Marine, Hornbeck Offshore Services, and Tidewater Marine. He retired in 1996. Larry proudly served his country in the Louisiana National Guard 156th Infantry and the US Army from 1959-1965. Larry married Nedra Gautier on May 22, 1966. They celebrated their 56th anniversary in 2022. They enjoyed traveling with their children, and in their later years, they took their four grandchildren and great-grandchildren and ventured to theme parks, zoos, aquariums, and other places of interest. Their favorite place to visit was Branson, Missouri, where they enjoyed seeing many entertaining shows. Larry liked working on his computer and looked forward to receiving daily emails from his friends. Larry is survived by his wife, Nedra Gautier Giroir; son, Stephen Giroir of San Antonio, TX; daughter-in-law, Sharron Giroir of Patterson; four grandchildren, Corry Giroir, Jr. (Amy) and Tiffany Giroir of Patterson, Colby Giroir and Keili Giroir of San Antonio, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Layla Giroir, Aleah Ruffin, and Roman Ruffin, Blake, Alexis, and Tristan Giroir, and Jayden Giroir; two great, great-grandchildren, Karver Giroir and Adalynn Giroir; and three step-grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, and Ashley Pontiff. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Giroir of Ponchatoula, LA, and a sister-in-law, Hilda DePascal (Brandon) of Harvey, LA. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Corry Giroir, Sr., his parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Giroir, his brother-in-law, Harry Gautier, Jr., and his sister-in-law, Marlene Gautier. The family would like to thank his special cousin and caregiver, Paul Vella, Jr., Dr. Nathalie Dishman, Dr. Scott Hebert, Father Brett Lapeyrouse, Conrad Poe, and Julie Delaune of Sacred Heart Church, Nurse Amber of Journey Hospice, and Deacon Jimmy Brunet. We thank God for the blessings of friends and family who have expressed their love for us in many beautiful ways and pray His continued blessing upon each of you. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Twin City Funeral Home from 9:00am until 11:00am. Funeral services will commence at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.
