Louis William Saylor Jr., 82, a resident of Thibodaux, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, at Ochsner Health Center in Raceland. Louis was born August 17, 1939, in Westernport, Maryland, the son of Louis William Saylor Sr. and Emma Belle Hess Saylor. Louis proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from Northrop Grumman after working at their company as a machinist for over 40 years. In his younger years, Louis was an avid hunter and fisher; he also was an avid archeologist, searching for Native American artifacts. Louis was also a gun and coin collector; he loved Nascar, and you wouldn’t catch him without a Pepsi in hand. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three children, Louis “Billy” William Saylor III and wife Denise of Bayou L’Ourse, Thelma Dupree and husband Derrick of Ingleside, TX., Mike Saylor and wife Robin of Baton Rouge; brother, Pete Saylor and wife Debbie of Ridgely, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Kristie Saylor, Aaron Campbell, Brianna Lishman, Tyler Dupree, and Marissia Saylor; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaleb, Celine, and Cameron Pitre, Adrianna Campbell, Demi and Oaklynn Rulf; long-time best friend, Charlie “Bubby” Bonnecarre. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Emma Belle Saylor; wife, Theresa Tyler Saylor; sister, Anna Robertson.
