Mary Ethel Mann Netterville, 86, a resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully March 7, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born December 29, 1938, in Vaiden, Mississippi, the daughter of James Woodrow Mann and Hazel Arinder Mann.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Edward “Ed” Netterville; two daughters, Karen Mayon and husband Kevin, Paulette “Polly” Mayon and husband James “Jimmy”; four grandchildren, Courtney Mayon Percle and husband Tyler, Haley Mayon Babin and husband Hunter, Craig Mayon and wife Nichole and Nicholas Mayon and fiancé Emma Benoit; five great-grandchildren, Carter Mayon, Claire Mayon, Abigail Percle, Waylon Babin, Dutton Babin; brother, Billy Joe Mann and wife Jean.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hazel Mann.
Mary grew up on a farm in rural Vaiden and moved to the town of Centreville, Mississippi in high school. She attended Centreville High where she was a cheerleader, basketball player, and homecoming queen.
Mary was a warm-hearted person with a great sense of humor and a deep love for her family and friends. She was affectionately called Granny, Queen, and Old Tootie by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and bore those titles proudly. She was very thoughtful and would make sure people felt loved by sending them personalized cards for any special occasion. If you were lucky enough to be a close friend or family member, you would get a phone call with her belting out her best rendition of “Happy Birthday” on your special day. She was generous with her friends and family and always up to celebrating milestones. Mary was very social, never met a stranger, and loved talking with people to find out their stories. She always encouraged you to be your best and let you know you were special to her. She was never afraid to show her playful side with her family and friends. She loved to laugh, loved people, and she truly enjoyed calls from her family and friends; but most importantly enjoyed the pictures she received from those she loved most. Her love for gardening and simple pleasures like word searches, crossword puzzles and coloring books adds a beautiful, peaceful layer to her personality. Her joyful spirit and generosity really shined through in the way she interacted with others.
